Microcurrent Stimulation Micro Plus Electrical Nerve Stimulation is characterized by sub-sensory current that acts on the body’s naturally occurring electrical impulses to decrease pain and facilitate the healing process. Microcurrent Electrical Nerve Stimulator differs from TENS in that it uses a significantly reduced electrical stimulation. TENS uses a higher voltage to block the nerve impulse and has wide application in pain control. It stimulates the pain-suppressing nerve fibers to work against the pain-carrying nerve fibers.
Microcurrent Stimulation (MCS) uses low voltage to stimulate the natural healing mechanisms of the body. TENS unit blocks pain, while Microcurrent Stimulator acts on the naturally occurring electrical impulses to decrease pain by stimulating the healing process.
It is theorized that healthy tissue is the result of direct flow of electrical current throughout our body. Electrical balance is disrupted when the body is injured at a particular site, causing the electrical current to change course. The use of Microcurrent therapy over the injured site is thought to realign this flow, thus aid in tissue repair.
Microcurrent Stimulation (MCS) is a treatment in which a weak electric current is used to stimulate the retina and the diseased macula to restore sight. Interest in the procedure developed when Sam Snead, the retired professional golfer, underwent a series of microcurrent stimulation treatments which improved his vision which was weakened by macular degeneration.

The electrical stimulation applied to injured tissue supports the natural current flow in the tissue, allowing cells in the traumatized area to regain their
capacitance, or flow of electrons. Trauma affects the electrical potential of the damaged cells. The injured area has a higher electrical resistance than the
surrounding tissue. This decreases electrical conductance through the injured area, and decreases cellular capacitance, leading to impairment of the healing
process and inflammation. When microcurrent stimulator is applied, resistance is reduced, allowing bioelectricity to flow through and re-establish normal function. This
electrical stimulator helps to initiate and perpetuate the many biochemical reactions that occur in healing. In Frequency Specific Microcurrent, specific frequencies are
used for varying tissues and conditions, often providing softening of the tissue and decreased pain. This softening and the pain relief that comes with it seems
to be long lasting and in many cases permanent.
